About
Dr. Crutcher is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. He has advanced training in surgery for arthritis of the hip and knee, including degenerative, traumatic, and congenital conditions. Dr. Crutcher performs over 450 hip and knee replacements per year, including partial knee replacement and outpatient joint replacement surgery in selected patients. In his practice, he uses advanced surgical techniques, and a personalized approach for every patient, in order to restore their quality of life and activity goals. Dr. Crutcher was instrumental in bringing robotic-arm assisted joint replacement surgery to Seattle in 2010 and continues to work on advancing this technology, including teaching other surgeons nationally and internationally.
Dr. Crutcher was Chief of the Department of Orthopedics at Swedish Medical Center from 2004-2008. During his tenure as chief, he led the development of the Swedish Orthopedic Institute, the largest dedicated orthopedic facility in the Northwest. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Swedish Orthopedic Institute. Dr. Crutcher is a native of Seattle who enjoys outdoor recreation in the Northwest, especially cycling, skiing, and hiking. He also enjoys music, travel, sports, and sharing all of these activities with his family.

Dr. Crutcher should have a 5 in all areas about your office from the young lady at the front desk, the young man that led us to the exam room, the gentleman who did the x-rays and Dr. Crutcher himself. I just wanted to let you know that his diagnosis and steroid shot he gave to me worked especially well. He thought it would take two or three days to let the pain be relieved but last night and today as well I have had no pain. Dr. Cutcher you area a God-send an I appreciate you so much.

Both Wayne and Dr. Crutcher took such good care of me. I had my hip replaced at Swedish. I was nervous but they explained exactly what was going to happen, how I needed to prepare my house, how much pain to expect and what exercises to do. You have to learn how to sit and stand a little differently and everyone was very kind and patient with me. I should have done this earlier, I feel so much better.

I recently had my knee revised last January. The experience couldn’t have gone better thanks to Dr. Crutcher and his assistant Wayne. I know all the docs there and they are all wonderful! You couldn’t go with a better crew if you need orthopedic surgery, trust me, they have now done over 6 of my total joint replacements. Dear Dr. Crutcher, This is a long overdue communication of thanks, gratitude and feedback. In July of 2006 I had both knees replaced with the Triathlon Total Knee System. Ever since then, I am 100%. I have no limitations or reservations at doing any activity I wish to do. I am 69 years old. I enjoy going to the gym, running, swimming, biking, and climbing. My knees, are probably the strongest part of the whole of me. Dr. Crutcher is the best mechanic and medical professional in the business.
